Tableclothes – Doilies

Looking for blocking fairy

How that amount of  stuff  waiting for blocking happened? Eeeek….Two knitted tablecloths, both Nieblings and one is very large oval shaped. Wondering how I should block it?

Then about 6 shawls: few  three Haapsalu shawls, one large triangular, one new design, one plus size Garbo and handful of mittens and few pair of socks.

No secret that I do not like the blocking,  must get extra spirit to get it done or wait till blocking fairy comes by ;)

Maybe while I knit some more and then  blocking them all,   heh :)

Pitsikudumise niidist

A little bit of lace thread story. My gorgeous and long kept  Freccia 8 turned out not so perfect for knitting because it is a bit too heavy …

Natuke pitsiniidi juttu.

Blumenfor

Who would believe that I finished Blumenfor (by Herbert Niebling) in 3 evenings.  Not that I did not liked it, I do like it a LOT and I would honestly step out from daily duties to knit 10 h per day and these would be tablecloths but unfortunately I can not….

It is huge-large tablecloth, information in Ravelry

Now I must look to get one blocking weekend to get many stuff blocked. No secret this is almost oe and only thing in knitting I do not enjoy, so fingers crossed I get tempted. Then also photo.  My Blumenfor is big, last rows took a hour per one row to knit. Can not wait tho to get it on table. This is for my kitchen table.

Some photos from my lace history

Finally got scanned some old photos of tablecloths I lace knitted in years 1986-1995.

The quality of photos is quite a poor but I am glad that after all I still have these photos made by those who liked and had laces from me.

Several of them are by H. Niebling and E.Engeln – I always adored the art of these Great lacemasters!

This black-white photo is sample of round tablecloth made by me from very fine cotton thread, needles 2mm.

Two photos below  are of extremely large tablecloth, was knitted by one of my favourite patterns. I needed to clean the room from some furniture before I was able to block it :) That large it was;)
